Purpose:Discuss the core essential AHA guidelines and demonstrate skills required for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Target Audience:This course is designed for Registered Nurses and other Allied Health professionals who are responsible for managing patients in cardiopulmonary emergencies and/or arrest. The target audience includes registered nurses, physicians, paramedics, EMTs and respiratory therapists. Participants from outside the critical care areas must have the permission of the course director.
Program Description:This course is designed to cover the core essential AHA guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The format for the course is lecture/discussion, small group discussions utilizing case scenarios and evaluation.
Pre-requisites:Current BCLS Provider's card and a basic EKG class to recognize arrhythmias. Attendees must obtain and read 2006 ACLS Provider Manual prior to class. 2005 Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care may also be obtained.
